Missions for the youth ministry at Northfield Christian Fellowship is not just a trip overseas or an extended weekend serving. It is a lifestyle. Here at NCF my heart is for the students to see their homes, schools, extracurricular activities and local businesses they visit on a weekly basis as their mission field. In Matthew 9, Jesus didn’t call the world to go to church but the church to go to the world. Everything we study together can be viewed through the lens of Knowing God and Making Him Known.
So, what does this look like? Outside of the daily and weekly mission mindset these kids have as they live their lives, we provide a few opportunities for them. First, every Tuesday we go out to a small community called Goofy Ridge to serve the people of the community. This entails work projects, Bible studies, providing a community meal, leading a Kids Club service and playing games with the kids.
In addition to a “weekly mission trip,” we provide every student during their four years with an opportunity to go on at least one domestic mission trip and one foreign mission trip.
My prayer for every student is that they would see the gospel not just as good news for themselves, but also good news for everyone that God puts in their path.
